Waves Reflection

During this unit,we had an interesting build up to the point we learnt about all waves. We learnt about Seismic Waves, Water Waves, Electromagnetic Waves, and Sound Waves as some of the main topics, accompanied by radio waves, microwaves and many other. A main interesting thing i saw was how many uses waves i never heard of have, and how often i use them, or they influence me.. For example, earthquakes come from seismic waves, before, i was limited when it came to waves, i could never imagine a earthquake was technically a wave. Sound travels in waves, so technically we hear waves! Sound waves can also pollute, this pollution is called noise pollution.

When we drew pictures at the beginning of the unit to see our knowledge so we could compare later, i thought this was crazy, in the beginning of the unit i thought i was smart talking about sound waves instead of water, turns out there was much more too it. When i looked at this picture i literally so an ocean of different waves i missed and i just realized how many waves are around me.

In this unit my favorite part was the amazing organization and build up, we started by drawing our current knowledge, which is both interesting and creative and a good way to reflect later, then later we get into technical stuff. My personal favorite from this unit was how interactive it was, it had a great mix of notes, movies, drawing, doing experiments and other, which helps alot because when you think about a unit you have many different ways to remember it. When i think of the wave unit right now i get around 5 images of the different activities we had.

Next year i would like the 7th graders to have the same experience and nothing to be changed because this unit was so bold and is not one to forget.

All in all this was one of my favorite units and would love to have many more organized in that way.
